The next leap for AI coding tools is a shared human-AI timeline that lets parallel agents understand context and act without losing the user's intent.

Summary

  • Windsurf product lead Kevin Hou says the IDE now generates ~90M lines of code/day and >1000 messages/minute, having retired the 'Codeium' name.
  • Core thesis: Windsurf's edge is a shared timeline between human and AI that makes agents feel mind-reading.
  • Highlights 10 'waves' of shipped features: web search, MCP support, auto-generated memories, deploys, parallel agents.
  • Walks through the IDE evolution from autocomplete to agentic Cascade and parallel multi-agent coding workflows.
