Ammonium sulphate for paddy growth boost and stem-borer control

Summary

• Stagnant paddy growth at 40–60 days despite normal fertilizers usually traces back to poor soil carbon levels and seed variety choice.
• Apply 50 kg/acre ammonium sulphate (20.6% N + 23% S) plus 10 kg/acre zinc sulphate, mixed and broadcast, for rapid growth and tillering.
• Caution: skip ammonium sulphate if soil sulphur levels are already high — soil-test first; many Telugu state paddy fields are sulphur-rich.
• Stem borer (mogi purugu) control options: Keldon, Dantal, Chloro 50%, Bayer Vayego, Syngenta Ampligo, or FMC Coragen — spray or mix with fertilizer.
• Use whichever stem borer chemistry is locally available; combining nutrient + insecticide management revives stalled paddy.
